Mondays: Meet at the Knoxville Green way system THIRD
CREEK parking lot on Neyland Drive near the University of
Tennessee Agriculture Campus at 6P.M. Sharp (April 1 through
Oct 31). This run follows part of the Glenway system along
the Tennessee River in the University of Tennessee area. NOTE:
During months where darkness and safety are an issue the group
will meet on Cherokee Boulevard/Sequoyah Hills in the parking
lot at the bottom end of Cherokee Boulevard (Check web-site
or get on e-mail or phone list for updates). Normally the
group run takes in about 5 miles. The actual route traveled
does change from time to time to have something different.
This activity joins with Knoxville Track Club group runners
to form a larger group. Usually you can find someone that
will travel your pace or be willing to (if you are slow).
Rest rooms and water are available at about the half way point
near the marina area.
Tuesdays: Meet at the University of Tennessee Tom Black
Track at 6PM Sharp. Note: You may want to get there early
due the traffic, parking, and for a warm up especially when
UT is in major session. This activity is for speed work (or
warp waddle speed) if you wish. You can join up with Knoxville
Track Club members as part of a larger group and follow their
training schedule or you can participate in our starting program
depending upon your needs.
First Thursday of each month: (This is for some hill
work. Meet in the Lakeshore area at 6PM. From I-40 Exit on
Papermill Road and get on Northshore drive, cross Kingston
Pike and continue until the second light. Turn left onto Lyons
View Pike. You will see Lakeshore on your right. Follow the
fence approximately two blocks and turn right into the park.
There is a parking lot on the left where we will meet. The
trail is 2.2 miles long for a full loop with some steep hills.
Restrooms and water fountains are located about halfway and
the trail is lighted. This will be only the Penguin group.
Note: Check our web-site for special activities including
group runs in different locations such as the Alcoa Glenway
system to add variety, and race events where local penguins
will participate. |

Penguin WisdomRunning is alternately easy and hard, good and bad, exciting and boring. Like living, it is made up of periods of dreadful sameness interrupted by brief moments of pure exhilaration. The big difference between running and living is that runners can pick and choose those moments of exhilaration." |
